Shop Edition Wicker Amphora Stand & Vase
HISTORY Wickerwork, a technique of weaving natural materials like rattan, reed, or willow, has been used for centuries to create functional and decorative items. Its popularity surged in the late 19th and early 20th centuries with the Arts and Crafts movement and later in the mid-century for outdoor and indoor furniture and accessories. The amphora shape, inspired by ancient Greek pottery, adds a classical touch to this otherwise rustic material. This particular piece combines the organic texture of wicker with the industrial aesthetic of wrought iron. Such pot stands were common decorative elements in homes and gardens, designed to elevate planters and add visual interest. The combination of materials and the amphora form suggests a piece that could be from the mid-20th century, though similar styles are still produced today.
